Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents his initial trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from that period of 2023.
Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had caused some to question if his capacity to play at the top level was over.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an better service.
The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour championship, took control to force a third set.
The opponent defended 4 early-game opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
